I purchased these authentic alligator pumps in New York City at a fantastic vintage shop for only $100. They were made in the 1940s and it is amazing to me that they are in such pristine condition. Many times when shopping for vintage shoes and apparel, I get discouraged because most shoes are not in the best condition. These pumps were such a find and I wear them only on the most special occasions!
On Que Style in Corona Del Mar, California is one cool spot. They stock their shelves with second hand designer goods, most of which have never been worn.
I must confess something to you dear readers. You may not like it, but I need to get this off my chest. Before this winter, I, Jessica was not a fan of boots. Now I know this must sound strange because I am such a shoe aficionado, but the truth is I did not have the confidence to wear boots until a few months ago.
Finding uncharted boutiques is an obsession of mine. I think it is because shopping at main stream department stores just does not do it for me any more. I like small unknown brands that really hold their own. I like supporting local designers. And I like the novelty of feeling like I discovered something new. Now you know why I love to post about the hip stores I stumble across!
Tucked away on quiet Mohawk Street in super cool, ever trendy Silverlake, California is Mohawk General Store. The space is small but very well lit and simply designed to showcase the unique and eclectic accessories inside. I would love to be outfitted by the merchandise they carry. Pictured here are a multicolored velvet creation by Buffins of Southern California. These dainty and beautiful pony heels were probably made in the 1950s and today retail for $128. Fifties style will always be classic and a pair of multicolored velvet pumps in the winter months is festive and fun!
