Maison Margiela has created several funky designs recently. I can appreciate their style for their unique design aesthetic and unusual elements but I feel like their goal is to deconstruct the shoe. It is like they have come up with a list of all the components that traditionally make up a shoe and then tried to reinvent them. This makes fashion exciting, but does it translate into everyday life?

Designers that push the envelope impress me the most. Even if I cannot pull of a particular style, I am always curious to see new and different designs. We can dislike or disagree with certain styles, but fashion would not be any fun if there was nothing new or exciting to look at!

Avant-garde Belgian designer, Martin Margiela has quietly left the fashion house he built and won’t be replaced at the company, which has been majority owned by the Italian group, Diesel since 2002. The fashion house will continue to operate with the creative staff that its reclusive founder developed over 20 years, but there will not be an appointment for a new creative director.
