It’s certainly no secret that super-high heel shoes have dominated the fashion scene in the past couple of years. Everyone loves to be able to add 3, 4, or even 5 inches to their frame. However, Alexander McQueen took shoes to a new height (literally!) at his Spring 2010 Ready-to-Wear show in Paris this week.

The clothing was very typical McQueen; avant-garde, animalistic prints were used as fabric on most of the outfits. The majority of the collection was minidresses, but McQueen never fails to make something simple into something incredibly modern and artistic as each of the dresses had their own unique shape and architecture.

The clothing that wasn’t minidresses was, well, interesting. If anything, McQueen is certainly fashion-forward, and his collection was certainly something out of the future. Tight leather and rubber suits were very Star Trek like and by the end of the collection, I could have sworn that there were aliens strutting down the Parisian runway.

While the girls may have looked like aliens, the show stopper was, of course, the shoes. The shoe was a staggering 10 inches—the same height of the shoe that famously caused Naomi Campbell to trip in the Vivienne Westwood show years prior. While every model managed to keep herself upright, it certainly couldn’t have been easy to prance down the runway in these shoe masterpieces. While I would love to be 10 inches taller (I’m only 5’0”!), I highly doubt I am going to be donning McQueen’s shoe art any time in the near future.
