If you’ve read or seen “Marley & Me,” you can imagine what I went through with my older lab, Max, and now my 11-month-old Great Dane, Diesel. I actually won’t read or see “Marley & Me” because I know the end will be too sad, but I did get the toddler version for my son called “Bad Dog Marley!” thus the name of this entry! Diesel isn’t a bad dog, but he is still a baby and quite naughty at times. He loves to eat my SHOES, among other things like Christmas ornaments, socks, underwear, entire loaves of bread, roasts, my dinner when I’m not looking, etc.! But yes, you heard me…MY SHOES!

I’m usually really careful, so he hasn’t ruined anything terribly fabulous or expensive, but he has chewed on at least 5 or 6 pair! A few weeks ago, I ordered a pair of Cole Haan ballet flats that were on sale for ridiculously cheap. I was taking a shower and had barricaded him in the bedroom instead of his crate, incorrectly thinking I had picked everything important up. Somehow I missed the new shoes, although they were closed in a box, and he got a few tooth marks in them!

The worst damage he did though, was chewing these Michael Kors pumps! I was so sad! While I did get them on sale for pretty cheap (under $200 I think), I loved them! They were extremely comfortable, and a good way to add some flair to jeans and a black top. I don’t usually wear any animal prints, but these were great!

So, I guess the lesson of this little tale is if you get a new puppy, guard your shoes with your life! Thank God he didn’t get any of my loubies or YSL though! But regardless it’s hard to get mad when you see that big, goofy, loveable face!! And, as you can tell, he was quite thrilled when I let him get another shot at them for the photo shoot!
